We are doing a health unit, learning about Emergency Services. We have made some PicCollage pictures about the kinds of things we need to have ready in case there is an emergency like a big earthquake or flood.

Our Toy Inquiry

We have been learning a lot about toys, and many children have brought toys to school to show us.

We have been thinking about what kind of toy we might make, because lots of children were interested in making toys. Here is Kase's plan.

Here are some recipes we wrote for autumn, and we tried hard to use interesting words.

Maths from fairy tales

We are doing maths from fairy tales at present. Yesterday we read the Twelve Dancing Princesses and did a page about ways to make 12 eg 6+6=12, tekau ma rua= 12, 100-88=12.

Today for the three little pigs we explored making triangle patterns. Here are a few of our patterns.

Room 11 and Room 3 shoes

We collected data about what shoes people were wearing in Room 11 then we made a graph. We decided to compare them with the shoes worn by the children in Room 3. We did a graph of their shoes too.

We found that velcro shoes were less in Room 3. Room 11 had more velcro shoes than Room 3. We think this might be because big kids have to learn to tie their laces.Room 11 are younger so they can't tie their laces so well.

"shoes" for maths

Room 11 have been doing maths all about Shoes recently. This week we have been investigating the most common shoes in Room 11. We did a tally chart and a graph. Then we predicted how we thought the shoes in Room 3 would compare. Kase thought the children there would have more sneakers and less velcro shoes.

This morning we went to Room 3 to visit our big buddies. We did a tally chart about the shoes they were wearing. Next week we will make a graph, and we hope to find out if Kase's prediction was correct.
